Best wishes for a wonderful and blessed holiday season to you! Cedar Grove UMC is alive and bustling with several events for the Advent Season. Our first Sunday in Advent included the “Hanging of the Greens” and lighting of the first Advent candle.

Next on the calendar is the adult Christmas party being held on Saturday, December 9th at 1 pm in Fellowship Hall. This will be a time of fun, games, songs, food and lots of laughter! For more information, please call the church office at 732-691-2415. You are asked to bring a covered dish to share If you would like to participate in the gift exchange, bring a wrapped gift valued up to $10.00 and marked with either “male” or “female” or “either”. Please let us know if you will be joining us!

Sunday, December 10th is the second Sunday in Advent. Join us for worship at 11 am.

The third Sunday in Advent, December 17th, will be a time for worship at 11 am followed by the children’s Christmas party with fun, games, crafts, desserts, and a visit by a very special guest! Please call the church office at the above number with the number of children you will be bringing. Desserts to be shared are welcomed!

Christmas Eve occurs on Sunday, December 24th this year. We will NOT worship at 11 am, however, a beautiful program at 7 pm has been planned for this candlelight service.

GET EXCITED!! THE BABY IS COMING!!!

Faith Community United Methodist Church in Bayville is our sister church who is also ministered to by our Pastor Rene Yon Pak. Some of their activities include Brunch with Santa on Saturday, December 9th at 11am open to anyone who wishes to join the fun; Christmas caroling at several nursing homes in the area; and a Christmas party on Saturday, December 16th at 5:30pm for $15/person. A memorial service for Lewis Wilbert will be held on Saturday, November 25 at 11:00am at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 797 Bay Avenue, Toms River. The gathering will continue in the Fellowship hall after the service. Please join us to remember Lew. You are welcome to bring a covered dish to share. ATTENTION!! New socks, underwear, and personal hygiene products will be collected this Saturday, November 11th at the church’s Fellowship Hall (behind the church) from 10 AM to 1 PM! Please be sure to drop your items off! Or bring them to church on Sunday at 11 AM!! We will be accepting all sizes for men, women and children.

The church is located at 797 Bay Avenue in Toms River – the little white church on the corner of Cedar Grove Rd and Bay Avenue. We want to bring some comfort to those in our community who are in need!! Help us!! Thank you!!

Sunday, October 15th, is Laity Sunday in the Methodist Church. We will celebrate the people of God as servants to Him. We are charged with putting God first, loving our neighbors as ourselves, and telling the good news of Jesus Christ. Bring your favorite Bible verses or Psalms to church. We will share why they are our favorites and how we can apply them to those tasks above. Thank you!

Some important dates are coming up in the life of our church. Place these events on your calendars!

October 29th – 11 AM is Roll Call Sunday with a covered dish lunch to follow.

December 9th (Saturday) – 1 PM is our adult Christmas party. Bring a snack or dessert to share. If you would like to participate in our gift exchange, which is always fun, wrap a small gift (no more than $10 value) and mark it for a “male” or “female”.

The holidays are rapidly approaching! As a Christian community, we know that there are many in need. Currently, we are collecting food and non-perishable items for Thanksgiving baskets as well as any donations of small change or larger checks! If you would like to help, bring your items and pocket change to church on Sunday. Our “turkey” is in the Fellowship Hall next to the large bin for food items or paper goods.

We will also be collecting other items for the Christmas holiday and for those who are homeless. Watch this Facebook page for more information in the near future!

Fellowship Hall which is a spacious gathering place for groups is available for a nominal donation. We have short-term and long-term availability. The Sanctuary is also available for special events such as weddings, baptisms, and even concerts. For more information, please call 732-691-2415. Spread the word!

The beautiful Fellowship Hall that we have is available for parties! It holds approximately 65 people and includes a large commercial kitchen for use. If you or anyone you know might be in need of a hall for a birthday party, anniversary party, or other celebration, please contact us at 732-691-2415. We will be happy to discuss the rules, dates, time frames and suggested donations for the use. Pass the word around!!

Services on Sunday, September, 10th, 2017 will not be held in Cedar Grove church. Instead, we will have a joint communion service with our sister church, Faith Community Methodist Church on Rt. 9 in Bayville at 11am. A pot luck lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish such as a salad, beans, veggies, fruit, chips and dip or dessert to share. Please join us!
