Changes…..

As you can see from the previous post, our little white church is undergoing some changes with Pastor Rene Yon Pak leaving and going on to her next assigned church, and Pastor Wade Jackson joining us as our new minister.  Please make note of the luncheons we are hosting to honor both of these wonderful people.

In addition, because we are sharing Pastor Jackson with his current church in Wayside, both churches must make some adjustments. Unfortunately, Pastor Jackson is unable to use a tele-transporter to travel from one church to the other in a short span of time, nor does he have a clone lurking somewhere. The Worship Committee held a special meeting to make a crucial decision which works best for everyone. Beginning on the last Sunday on June 30th, our church service will be held at 9:00 AM and Wayside UMC will be moving to the 11:00 AM slot. This time change will allow Pastor Jackson enough time for safe travels between the churches, especially considering Parkway traffic in the summer.  His intentions are to be at Cedar Grove UMC between 8:15 and 8:30 AM for some casual fellowship before our service.

We realize this is a big change for everyone, but we have survived change before as we are a very strong and faithful church family!  Please share the word with everyone!

Lenten Season

It’s incredible that the Lenten Season is right around the corner! Life and time seem to be going faster with each day!

Easter is on April 21st this year. Preparation for Christ’s death and Resurrection begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Services at Cedar Grove will be held at 1 PM in the afternoon for the instillation of ashes.

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend!

The Gifts of the Magi and of Our Congregation!!

Sunday, January 6th, is Epiphany Sunday. It is also known as Three Kings Sunday because it celebrates the visit from the Magi who came bearing gifts to the Christ child. Join us for service at 11 AM, and then we will share a meal of snack-type foods. So find something easy and quick to buy or prepare that are “finger foods”.

In recognition of the idea of bringing the baby Jesus gifts, we will also collect packages of baby diapers (any size) to be sent to the Maker’s Place Hope Center in Trenton. They will be distributing these to those in need in the Trenton area. We will be adding to the 87,000 diapers they have already given out!! What an awesome job that’s been done!
